Day 1
Come join us as we travel to the "Hub of the Plains." That is what Lubbock is called. Our first stop will be at the American Wind Power Center. This is a unique museum. It has 150 rare and fully restored windmills on display in an interpretive center and on the ground. Next we will go to the Llano Estacado Winery. The simple mission from its beginning in 1976 to its role as industry leader today has been to embody the fabulous potential of Texas wines. Today Llano Estacado is the largest premium winery in the state of Texas, producing wines of world class quality, and taking the lead in introducing not just Texans, but the entire world, to the great wines made in Texas. After eating dinner we will head to the Cactus Theatre. It is housed in a remodeled 1938 building. The Cactus Theatre is considered by many to be their main source of live entertainment, and we will have the opportunity to find out why. I expect that we will all be glad we did.
Day 2
We will start our last day in Lubbock with a trip to the National Ranching Heritage Center. This is a 30 acre facility that will take you back in time. It has 38 authentic ranch structures that have been relocated from some of the West's most well known ranches. It will give us a glimpse into Ranch life from the 1700's to the 1900's. From there we will visit the Museum of Texas Tech University. This is a major general museum. It has over five million objects ranging from the arts to science. This will have a little bit of everything for everyone. We will also have time to visit the Museum Shop for souvenirs. Next will be a stop at the South Plains Mall. This super-regional mall has five major department stores and 150 specialty stores. This is a premier shopping destination in West Texas. You will be on your own for shopping and lunch. As much as we hate to say goodbye it will then be time for us to leave the West Texas Plains and head home, but that is ok we will come back again someday.
