Day 1
We are headed out west to the City of Post. I bet you have never heard of it. They like to say they are living on the edge. That is because they are located on the edge of the Caprock. It is the town that cereal built. It was founded in 1907 by cereal magnate C.W. Post. Our first stop will be at the famous J. Cruse Christmas Gallery. J. Cruse started out as a Chef. However, in the mid 90's he began to sculpt Santa Clauses and Elves. His mobile Santa's stand 6' tall with the hands and feet sculpted personally by Cruse. Next we will visit the O S Museum. This collection is one of kind items collected through years by the Giles McCrary family during their travels abroad. You will not see anything like this again. We will have dinner at the famous Hotel Garza. This beautiful 1915 hotel is a beautiful old building worth seeing. They are known for their scrumptious home cooking and true West Texas hospitality. We will now go to the Ragtown Gospel Theater. Locals say it is "Like Branson in our own back yard." One half of the production will be a live Christian Theatre Production. Glenn Polk the lead actor has over 45 years on stage and in ministry since 1999. The other half of the performance will be a live Gospel Music Show.
Day 2
We will start our day at the Old Mill Trade Day in Downtown Post. This area event happens once a month all along the main street. In addition to the many permanent shops on Main Street there are street vendors featuring a wide variety of unique gifts, arts, crafts, and wares from all over West Texas. This is a perfect place for holiday shopping. Next, we will go to the Garza Historical Museum. It was built in 1911 and was the first hospital in this part of West Texas. It is time for lunch and then we will have to say goodbye to the town that cereal built.
